Staphylococcus epidermidis strain 4477-2 (ATCC 700565) is a genome-sequenced, human-derived clinical isolate supplied as a freeze-dried culture for antimicrobial resistance and drug development research. This BBL-2 organism has a defined susceptibility profile and characteristic colony morphology on trypticase soy medium.

• Provided as a freeze-dried viable culture.
• Biosafety level: BSL 2.
• Recommended medium: trypticase soy agar/broth (medium 18).
• Incubation temperature: 37 °C under aerobic conditions.
• Human blood isolate from Richmond, Virginia (1997).
• Characteristic colony morphology on medium 18: entire, glistening, circular, smooth, opaque, and low convex.
• Susceptibility profile: resistant to multiple beta-lactams and other agents; susceptible to gentamicin, tetracycline, and vancomycin.
